Hello Everyone,
Hopefully this newsletter finds you all well.
Past Events
Wednesday 21 August 2024 – Mid-month Lunch – The Chequers Matching Green
Thirteen people joined us on The Terrace for a very enjoyable and reasonably priced lunch. I think we will have to revisit this venue next year.
Sunday 1st September 2024 – Monthly Meeting – Matching Green Cricket Club - There must have been lots of events on this weekend as only six members attended our regular meeting. There appeared to be more classics parked at The Chequers than on the green.
Congratulations to Richard Way who picked up the last car of the month award for 2024.
Friday 20th – Sunday 22nd September 2024 – 2 Night Weekend Tour – The Hickstead Hotel, West Sussex.
Twenty members enjoyed a fantastic weekend. Which started with a tour of Filching Manor Motor Museum, members then met for a drinks reception and evening meal with wine provided by the club. After a hearty breakfast members spent the day visiting one of the many local attractions. Saturday evening again saw members gather for our evening meal conversation continued late into the night. Members then departed Sunday morning after breakfast on their journey home. Thank you to Jackie & Simon Burton for organising the weekend and for his witty poem on Saturday evening on Sat Nav’s, hopefully Jackie has forgiven you.
Events coming up
Sunday 6th October 2024 – Monthly Meeting – Matching Green Cricket Club.
Join us for our last monthly meeting at the cricket club for this year from 1:00pm in the pavilion if the weather is inclement.
Wednesday 16 October 2024 – Mid-month Lunch – The Dog House, Tawney Common CM16 7PU. This pub was formerly known as The Mole Trap, please let Wendy Way know if you would like to joins us who is collating numbers wendy_way4@hotmail.com
As you are all aware we are unable to use the cricket pavilion during the winter months, the green is fenced off by the parish council and there is no heating in the pavilion itself. After much discussion your committee have decided to combine the monthly meeting and mid-month lunch just for the months of November 2024 to March 2025 at this point we will revert to separate meeting on the first Sunday and a mid-month lunch on the third Wednesday.
The first such meeting will be held on Wednesday 13th November 2024 at The Hunters Meet, Hatfield Heath, CM22 7BQ, please let Wendy Way know if you would like to attend who is collating numbers wendy_way4@hotmail.com
Further venues will be announced when available. Please let me know your views on this proposal.

I will be adding a regalia order form onto the website this week, if you are in need of a new polo shirt, fleece or even a beanie for the cooler months please check it out. Any feedback would be most appreciated, good or bad.
To assist the people who are organising events you must email them and confirm that you would like to attend. Please do not just click attending on the facebook event and assume that this will be picked up, thank you.
If anybody who has attended one of our recent events who has taken any pictures that they wouldn’t mind being published to our website and Facebook page can you please email them to me ian.s.robinson1@gmail.com. Thank you.
Club members who are also members of the website can now see the minutes of our committee meetings so check this section out and see what happens to make the club work.
There is a classified section on the website, if you have anything for sale or are looking for that elusive part let me know and I will put this on for you.
I am not sure if anyone has noticed that the links to the regalia section are now working, it is best to use a PC, Laptop or tablet to use this.
