Chairman's Chat May 2025

Hello Everyone,

Hopefully this newsletter finds you all well.

Please note that annual subscriptions will become due on 1st June 2025, you will receive a reminder nearer the time from Richard Way, membership secretary.

Past Events

Wednesday 23rd April – Mid-month Lunch – The Cock, Sheering.

We had 17 members attend this enjoyable lunch time meetup. The restaurant provided yet again a very enjoyable meal and friendly chat. Thanks to David Parsons for organising this event, it is great when members volunteer to organise an event. As it was St Georges Day we had some flags and napkins with the cross of St George and a short England themed quiz.

Sunday 27th April – Drive it Day – Gardens of Easton Lodge.

Ten cars attended our club version of Drive it Day with a very pleasant trip from The Squadron café at North Weald to The gardens of Easton Lodge where we were treated to a very informative talk on the history of the gardens and the many previous inhabitants of the lodge. Thanks go to Richard Way for the route and Jon Rome for organising the venue. Just a reminder to those who attended, can you please transfer the entrance fee £12.00 per person to the club bank account.

Sunday 4th May – Monthly Meeting – Matching Green Cricket Pavillion.

Fifteen members enjoyed a rather chilly but enjoyable BBQ listening to music of the Forties to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE day followed by an update on club matters.

Please contact Gill Rome asap, who is organising this meal if you would like to join us for lunch gill.rome@btinternet.com .

Wednesday 18th June – River Stort Trip & Mid-month Meal

We will meet at The Moorhen, about 12:00 for our meal, then boarding our boat at 3:00pm for a four hour trip on the river Stort. We currently have ten people have booked for this trip, I have therefore booked one of the boats, so we have two spare places on that boat. This year the club will only be responsible for the running of the arena with the cricket club providing people to cover other activities. We will still need as many volunteers as possible, if you can help please contact Jon Rome jon.rome@btinternet.com

Communications

Just a reminder that we now have several online platforms for you to get information and communicate with other members.

Website – WWW.MGCSC.CLUB

WhatsApp – please let me know if you would like to be added to our group.

To assist the people who are organising events you must email them and confirm that you would like to attend. Please do not just click attending on the facebook event and assume that this will be picked up, thank you.

If anybody who has attended one of our recent events who has taken any pictures that they wouldn’t mind being published to our website and Facebook page can you please email them to me ian.s.robinson1@gmail.com. Thank you.

Club members who are also members of the website can now see the minutes of our committee meetings so check this section out and see what happens to make the club work.

There is a classified section on the website, if you have anything for sale or are looking for that elusive part let me know and I will put this on for you.

I am not sure if anyone has noticed that the links to the regalia section are now working, it is best to use a PC, Laptop or tablet to use this. Please let me know what you think of this section good or bad.

FBHVC News

The club is a member of the FBHVC, issue 1 - 2025 of their magazine is available to download from their website, a link to this is on our website. There is also a vast quantity of information relating to all aspects of vintage & classic car matters. If anyone has any problems with access to areas of this site please let me know.
