Chairman's Chat August 2021

Dear Members, hoping you are keeping well and managing to enjoy a few more freedoms than last year.

Please note our Sunday meeting will not be held this Sunday 1st August, due to the Summer Ball the night before, the picnic on Matching Green is the following Sunday 8th August, please come along and enjoy an informal get together in the open air with the option of ordering food from the Hunters' Meet for £10 per head, delivered to the Green, a great venue for introducing friends and family to our club.

We enjoyed a lovely meal at the Axe & Compass, Ayethorpe Roding, enjoyed by 20+ members and as our first lunchtime meeting that is very encouraging for planning future mid-month meals. The Axe & Compass did a great job at short notice, as due to Covid isolation, our original choice of venue, The Ferry Boat Inn at North Fambridge could not open.

Our next mid-month meal is at The Spotted Dog, Great Barnston, Nr. Dunmow, bookings by our members has nearly filled this popular pub/restaurant, but contact Dennis Northcott to check for availability on Thursday 19th August.

We are looking forward to the Epping and Ongar Heritage Railway event on Sunday 29th August, the Bank Holiday weekend, the list of cars attending is full but you could park at Epping Station and catch the vintage bus.

Titan Historic Racing Team are holding a show in aid of a hospice charity on Sunday 12th September, Leaden Roding. Last year our wonderful membership helped with set-up the day before and various roles on the day such as directing people to parking etc. Any help would be welcomed again this year, contact me wendy_way4@hotmail.com or tonyrudman5@gmail.com to help put on a great show for a good cause.

and finally, stay safe dear member and your Chairman Tony Rudman and Committee look forward to welcoming you to an event soon.
